Nelson will be delivering a talk on “Government support in stimulation of business angel investment in Europe” in Kazakhstan on 24 May.
Following this he will moderate a panel Government support of Business Angels. The panel will include Peter Heydebreck, Managing Director Inno AG, and Sagadiyev K.A, PhD, National Academy of Science.

Nelson will deliver Keynote on “Capital Efficient Early Exits” at the May 8th Mountain Club investment group Investors Summit in Zurich. The talk will demonstrate how angels around the world are increasingly focusing on the exit options for their potential investments at an early stage of the pre investment process, ageing written “exit strategies” with the founders, and regularly updating the strategy post investment. The key to successful exits is alignment of interests between the founders and the investors, and a detailed knowledge of the acquisition strategies of potential exit partners.

Edinburgh 4 May. The Chartered Accountants Ireland, Ulster Society, will hear a talk at thei annual conference by Nelson Gray on the “Scottish Model” for angel investing, and what elements may be appropriate to adopt in Ireland. Scotland is recognised internationally as an exemplar of best practice, notably in the effective combination of group investing structures and directed public support policy, notably via the Scottish Co Investment Fund, an fund model now copied by a number of other countries. It is notable that the level of angel investing in Scotland is significantly greater per head of population than other regions within the UK. Nelson will explain how the Scottish Government has used European Funding to build angel capacity and competence.
