Qualifications

Nelson graduated with an Honours degree in Accountancy from The University of Strathclyde in 1997.
He went on to work with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (later absorbed into Price Waterhouse Coopers - PWC) and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 having worked in the audit and insolvency departments.

In 1990, whilst Managing Director of his own company, he completed a two year part time MBA at Heriot Watt University and completed a period of study with the Institute of Directors in London leading to a Diploma in Company Direction.

In 2001 Nelson completed the examinations required for him to be approved by the UK Financial Services Authority as a registered Investment manager and Adviser.

Public and Other Appointments

Nelson is a former board member of the Entrepreneurial Exchange(six years to April 2008), Connect and was a founding member of Scottish Institute for Enterprise
